A man in his 50s has been released on bail following his arrest on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a fatal collision.

Two pedestrians in their 80s were on the A148 at the junction with Avenue Road in High Kelling, Norfolk, when they were struck by a white BMW Mini One at about 16:20 GMT on Sunday, Norfolk Police said.

The force said they both died at the scene.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the manner of driving of the Mini prior to the collision happening, and have also appealed for dashcam footage.

In a statement, Canon Howard Stoker, the Rector of Holt with High Kelling, said his "thoughts and prayers" were with all those affected by "this double tragedy".

He added: "Understandably, members of our congregations are reeling in shock and filled with sorrow following the tragic death of two much loved members of our church family."

The Bishop of Norwich, the Right Reverend Graham Barham Usher, also paid tribute to the couple and described their death as a "tragedy".
