Services on Greater Manchester's Metrolink tram network have resumed as usual after a power outage led to widespread cancellations and disruption.

Its operator posted on X: "The overhead wires at Deansgate-Castlefield have been repaired and trams are now able to run again from the start of service today.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience caused to your journey yesterday and thank you for your patience."

A driver reported a loss of power and damage to a pantograph - a mechanical attachment used to connect trams to overhead power lines - in the city centre at about 10:15 BST on Tuesday.

It led to disruption to services in Manchester and on lines between Ashton-under-Lyne and Eccles.
