Police raid £360k cannabis farm after tip-off

A cannabis farm packed with plants believed to be worth more than £360,000 has been found by police following a tip-off.

About 300 plants of varying sizes were discovered in a property on High Street in Warboys, according to Cambridgeshire Police.

PC Ross Spalthoff said: "Thanks to information from the public, this illegal drug will no longer reach the streets."

Two men have been charged with cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity.

“With the help of local residents, we will continue to tackle and dismantle cannabis factories and make clear to criminal groups that our county is a hostile environment for them in which their trade is neither welcome nor tolerated," said PC Spalthoff.

Police said key indicators to help people spot a property that might be being used as a cannabis factory include:

  • Frequent visitors at anti-social hours
  • Blacked-out windows or condensation on the windows when it is not cold outside
  • Bright lights in a room throughout the night
  • A powerful, distinctive sweet aroma and noise from fans
