Somerset in Pictures: Snow, carnival and racing

Winter arrived in the county this week, with the first snowfall turning woodland and fields into a wintery wonderland.

But it wasn't all positive, as driving conditions in the south of the county became somewhat hazardous.

Elsewhere saw the last of the Somerset carnival circuit completed, a DJ set played on the top deck of a double decker bus and a special birthday for a Midsomer Norton resident.

The county had its first snow on Thursday providing many glorious photo opportunities, but motorists were also warned of treacherous driving conditions and a number of roads were closed.

The Somerset County Carnivals for 2024 came to a conclusion on Saturday with about 50 carts taking part in the procession through Glastonbury. Following the carnival the eagerly anticipated results were announced, with Huckyduck Carnival Club and its Brunel themed cart winning the County Cup.

The 376 double decker bus, lit up in pink and purple, at dusk. It is driving down a road in Glastonbury. On the top deck, a member of the 3Seven6 DJ collective can be seen next to a DJ deck. People are lining the street on either side.

As part of the carnival, a group of DJ's celebrated the 376 bus route between Glastonbury and Bristol by performing on one of its buses.

And finally we want to say a big Happy Birthday to Robert Warners, who celebrated his 105th birthday on Wednesday.

He is one of the last remaining D Day veterans and a resident at a Midsomer Norton care home.
