A man has been arrested after another man was injured by an air weapon.

Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to the junction of Southchurch Drive and Dungannon Road in Clifton at about 14:40 BST on Saturday.

The 44-year-old victim suffered minor injuries to his finger, a force spokesman said.

A suspect was arrested nearby on Varney Road, and the 49-year-old has been taken into custody for questioning.

Ch Insp Neil Humphries said: "We take all reports of anyone possessing a weapon extremely seriously and we immediately deployed armed officers to the scene of the incident to ensure people were safe.

"We would like to hear from anyone else who witnessed what happened, but particularly anyone that saw a man in a grey hooded top and black trousers chasing a man with a dog."
