A food delivery driver has been charged with drug and firearm offences.

Essex Police said officers stopped a man in Salisbury Avenue in Southend on Wednesday having "acted on intelligence" and seized Class A drugs and cash.

A search of his home in Westcliff then uncovered what police said was a "viable firearm" and ammunition.

The 46-year-old was charged with one count of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon.

He was remanded in custody and appeared at Southend Magistrates' Court on Friday, police added.
