Closed roads having 'huge impact' on village
Councillors have voiced frustrations over how long it is taking to repair collapsed culverts which have blocked roads in a Shropshire village.
Cardington Parish Council chairman Clive Tonks told a meeting on Tuesday two roads surrounding the village were currently closed due to the damage.
He said the road closures were causing "considerable disruption" to residents and having a "huge impact" on local businesses.
Andy Wilde, assistant director for infrastructure and growth at Shropshire Council told the meeting he recognised the issue required "urgent attention".
One of the roads, from Cardington to Stone Acton, was first blocked in November when a culvert under the road collapsed.
Mr Tonks told the meeting he had made numerous requests for closure signs to be installed on the street, as well as the blocked Ley Hills Road, to prevent drivers from having to reverse back down them.
He also has requested for debris, which has fallen into streams from the culverts, to be removed as it could cause flooding.
In response, Mr Wilde said his team would install signage at the relevant locations by the end of the week.
He also said an ecological survey, which is required before work can take place in the waterways, was under way.
