A road was closed as fire crews worked to extinguish a blaze at a house with a thatched roof.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Hackthorne Road, Durrington, Salisbury, at 17:08 BST on Saturday.

Fire officers found a well-developed fire affecting the roof and first floor of the property, the service said.

No casualties have been reported and the fire service said the cause is believed to be accidental.

At about 12.45 BST on Sunday the number of officers were scaled back to one crew with and an aerial ladder platform to continue dampening down.

The fire service said earlier: "We are working closely with our colleagues at Wiltshire Police and the ambulance service.
