Islanders needed to work on new Bergerac series

Aspiring film and TV workers across the island are being given the chance to be part of the iconic drama Bergerac.
The Bergerac Jersey Trainee Scheme is giving eight Jersey residents the chance to work on series two of the re-imagined 1980s detective show.
The 13-week programme will run from Monday 28 July July to October and successful candidates will be given hands-on experience across different departments such as production, locations, and costume design.
This apprenticeship scheme was part of the conditions set by the Jersey government for providing funding to the show.
The new Bergerac series is a reimagining of the iconic 1980s BBC detective drama which was also set in the island.
It stars Damian Moloney as Jim Bergerac and has been commissioned for a second series to be aired on UKTV in 2026.
Trainees on the apprenticeship scheme would be paid "an industry standard salary", and accommodation would be provided when filming outside of Jersey.

The scheme aimed to train local Jersey people in various roles within the production process, providing them with valuable skills and hands-on experience.
"We are committed to giving back to the Island.", said Brian Constantine, Bergerac's executive producer.
"[This is mostly] by providing opportunities for Jersey-born talent to gain a rare chance to join a professional film crew.
"This scheme is about opening doors and helping the next generation find their way into the industry."
Applicants must be aged 21 or over to be considered, and be a resident on the island.
Westward Studios which ran the scheme urged applicants to contact them by 27 June.
