Care home residents forced to leave after roof fire

Residents at a care home have been forced to leave overnight after a fire broke out in the roof.

Firefighters were called to the residential care home on Prince of Wales Road, Dorchester, on Saturday shortly after 22:05 GMT.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said over 50 firefighters were sent from stations across Dorset, with crews from Yeovil also called to fight the blaze.

The fire service said: "We believe 11 residents were displaced and rehoused by the local authority."

The fire was out by about 02:30, with a fire investigation set to take place.
