Man arrested over 'incident' on Armagh GAA trip
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
It is understood the arrest is in connection with an alleged incident while Armagh GAA was on a recent trip to the United States.
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) arrested the man on Tuesday and he has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Armagh GAA said it was aware of a reported incident and was "responding to serious allegations".
"We can confirm Armagh GAA is continuing to respond to this matter in collaboration with Ulster GAA, the GAA at central level and the PSNI," a spokesperson said.
"Out of respect for those involved and ongoing police enquiries, we are unable to comment any further at this time. "
Solicitor's statement
In a statement, Patrick Higgins of Donnelly and Wall Solicitors said his client had "voluntarily presented himself the PSNI" on Tuesday.
"He co-operated fully with the PSNI in the initial stages of the investigation," the solicitor said.
"He is innocent of all charges and vows to do everything in his power to clear his name."
A group of about 100 people had gone to Miami in Florida in November to celebrate the team's All-Ireland win four months earlier.
It marked Armagh's first final in 21 years.
Armagh GAA, Ulster GAA and GAA headquarters did not respond to requests for comment from the BBC on Sunday when it was first reported that police had been alerted to the alleged incident.
