Gas tanker incident closes A-road and injures man

An incident involving a gas tanker has closed an A-road and left a man with critical injuries, police have said.

The east and westbound carriageways of the A45 between Riverside and Barnes Meadow Interchange near Northampton were closed at about 03:10 BST.

Northamptonshire Police said the incident happened on the eastbound carriageway and the injured man was taken to University Hospital Coventry.

The eastbound section is expected to remain closed for several hours, while the force said the westbound had reopened.
