A lightning strike during a thunderstorm has set fire to the roof of a house.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Three Ashes Road in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, at 16:09 BST on Monday.

It said when it arrived there was smoke coming from the roof, but "difficult conditions inside" caused problems getting to the fire in the roof space.

It said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it took hold and destroyed the whole roof.

It took the crew from Much Wenlock just under 40 minutes to put the fire out and no one was hurt.
