Butchers 'delighted' to win best chipolata award
A butcher's shop said it was "delighted" to win a national award for the best chipolata sausage.
Frank Parker Butchers, in Nuneaton, was recognised for its handmade pork chipolata during the 2024 UK Sausage Week competition in October.
The family-run butchers, which was established in the Warwickshire town in 1896, has spanned five generations.
Frank Parker, who runs the business, said he had been making sausages for 71 years and was "very proud" to have won the award.
'Sausage is an art form'
He said he had sold a lots of chipolatas as "people love them" and he had made about 14 different varieties of sausage in the past.
"Sausage is an art form and we’re very proud to do it properly," he said.
"It’s one of the delights of my life making sausage, the other one is serving customers."
Mr Butcher entered the competitions by sending samples that were then shortlisted before his were crowned the winner.
He and his grandson, who makes the sausage, picked up the accolade at a ceremony at Butchers Hall in London on 28 October.
Of their victory, he added: "We’re delighted."
The butchers has been crowned Best Shop In the Midlands three times and previously picked up the UK's Best Butchers Shop award in 2000.
