Kent Fire & Rescue Service advised people to only run cycles when at home and awake

A fire service has issued a warning about appliances after a blaze at a commercial building believed to have started in a tumble dryer.

Kent Fire & Rescue Service said it was called to King Street, in Margate, shortly before 04:00 BST.

Two engines attended and crews extinguished the blaze, the service said. There were no reported injuries.

It is believed the fire began in a tumble dryer, with crews reminding people to make sure appliances are in good working order before using them and to make sure they are regularly maintained.

The service also advised people to only run cycles when at home and awake.

"Remember to have a working smoke alarm on each floor of your property," it added.
