A woman in her 20s died when a car carrying four people left a carriageway and hit a tree.

Norfolk Police said patrolling officers found a black Mini One just off the southbound carriageway of the A11 near Ketteringham, Norfolk, at 05:15 GMT on Sunday.

The car had hit a tree near the junction with Station Lane.

The woman who died at the scene had been a rear passenger. The driver, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, where she remains in a critical condition.

Two other passengers - a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s - were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed while emergency services, including fire, ambulance and the air ambulance, attended the incident.

The road was reopened hours later, at about 11:30.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of the Mini prior to the incident.

Anyone with any information or relevant dashcam footage is asked to get in touch, quoting CAD 69 of 3 November.
