Police want to speak to the man about the incident last September

Police have released images of a man they are trying to identify after a child was kissed by an adult.

Officers said a man had followed a boy and kissed him in the Fartown area of Huddersfield on 23 September last year.

The investigation uncovered CCTV footage capturing a suspect but efforts by West Yorkshire Police to identify him have been unsuccessful.

The force said it hoped by releasing the images the public might be able to assist in identifying him.

Det Con Angus Whitehead said: "This is a concerning incident, and I would like to reassure members of the public that we have been conducting extensive inquiries to identify this man.

"There are some pretty clear images of the suspect, and I am hopeful that there will be people who know who this man is."

He said he would also urge the man to come forward to assist with the investigation.
