Shopfronts in Newquay are to be revamped thanks to a council grant.

Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) has secured £9,500 from Cornwall Council to help 13 businesses improve the front of their stores.

Some of the money will also be used to create a storytelling trail to increase footfall in the Trenance area, the organisation said.

The grant from the council's Town Delivery Fund will be used to match fund improvements to the shops including repainting and the replacement of canopies, it added.

'A dynamic hub'

Claire Weiss, of Atlantic View Cafe, thanked the council for the grant and said: "We believe it's so important to keep Newquay's high street and our business looking clean, modern and eye-catching."

Cornwall councillor Louis Gardner said: "By enhancing storefronts, we create a vibrant, welcoming town that attracts more visitors, supports jobs and builds community pride.

"Together, we can ensure Newquay remains a dynamic hub for residents and tourists alike."
