Fears Gloucester Docks being turned into 'glorified car park'
A historic dock is being turned into a "glorified car park" after temporary bollards used to block drivers were vandalised.
In recent months, motorists have been using land between North Warehouse and the Main Basin in Gloucester to park.
In November, nearby business owners raised concerns that parked vehicles were posing a risk to pedestrians.
A Gloucester City Council spokesperson said it was working on a "permanent solution to prevent parking".
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service the land is owned by the city council.
Councillor Rebecca Trimnell, said the area was being used by motorists on a daily basis.
"A solution must be found ASAP to stop the historical docks from being used as a glorified car park," she said.
A spokesperson for the city council previously said they were working on a solution to stop parking in that area for good.
"We are aware of people using land in Gloucester Docks to park their vehicles. Temporary bollards were installed to prevent this but, unfortunately, they were vandalised," they said.
"We are currently working on a permanent solution to prevent parking in this area."
