Six-week road closure begins for improvements
Six weeks of road closures through a village have begun for improvement works to take place.
The A5086 at Frizington in Cumbria will be closed to vehicles from 07:00 to 19:00 BST, with plans to allow residents access "when safe to do so", Cumberland Council says.
The improvements will include road repairs, footway upgrades, drainage replacement, and refreshing road markings.
The local authority apologised for the inconvenience and said it was working with local stakeholders, including parish councils, to minimise disruption as much as possible.
Pedestrian access will be available throughout the works and access for emergency vehicles, under blue lights, will be maintained at all times.
The project will be carried out in two phases.
The first phase will cover the area from the beginning of the village to just before Yeathouse Road.
The second phase will extend from Yeathouse Road to beyond the mini roundabout.
All work in the first phase would be completed before moving on to the second phase, Cumberland Council added.
