Californians deal with heat dome's high temperatures

Scorching triple-digit heat has hit the south-west US two weeks before summer officially begins.

Across parts of California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas, temperatures are higher than usual for early June due to a heat dome - an area of high pressure where hot air is pushed down and trapped, causing temperatures to soar.

California residents are being cautious, limiting their time in the sun, or finding places indoors to cool off.
