Birmingham's Paradise Circus redevelopment plans under way
Phase one will see two new office buildings created
A redevelopment plan that will lead to the closure of roads in Birmingham city centre has got under way.
The work - part of a £500m Paradise Circus redevelopment - will affect Summer Row between Lionel Street and Great Charles Street, which will be closed temporarily to all vehicles.
Parking on Summer Row will also be suspended.
The city council said drivers should expect "significant disruption".
The work is part of a project to demolish the old library and create new offices, shops and walkways.
Earlier, the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce welcomed the work and said businesses would cope with the disruption.
The contractors said the work would last for approximately 18 months.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025 and could create up to 15,000 jobs, the council said.
