Sark's only school is looking for its first set of governors from the community, officials have said.

The island's Education Committee said it was looking for three community governors for Sark School with "a variety of skills and experience" to provide "governance, guidance and support" to pupils and staff.

The Chief Pleas recently decided to introduce a board of governors responsible for the school, replacing the old Board of Education, which had a wider remit.

Officials said the new governors would work alongside the head teacher, an elected parent governor and a representative of the committee.

Sark School caters for children up to the age of 13, and currently has fewer than 30 pupils, with most secondary-aged children being educated in nearby Guernsey.
