Drivers in Somerset have been dealing with hazardous conditions after overnight snowfall.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning and warned of blizzard-like conditions.

Somerset Council issued a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol, which includes sheltering rough sleepers as temperatures plummet.

Somerset Travel said on X that there were reports of tricky conditions around the A30 Crewkerne and Yeovil areas.

Rosie Hather from the homeless charity Arc in Taunton, said they are hoping to get people into accommodation "as quickly as possible".

"It's really nasty conditions out there," she said.

"We're cold putting our heating on indoors but if you're forced to sleep outside it's hideous."

Somerset Council is offering additional emergency accommodation for rough sleepers.

Jeremy Payne lives high up on Exmoor between Porlock and Lynmouth.

He said the snow came "barrelling out of nowhere" and has settled "rather dramatically".

"We're used to it and it's part of our life out here," Mr Payne added.

"The most we've ever been stuck out here recently has been four or five days."
