Theatre set for curtain up after Storm Bert floods

A theatre forced to close after it was left awash with floodwater following Storm Bert is set to reopen its doors.

The Mill Arts Centre, in Banbury, had only recently opened its auditorium after flooding in February damaged the stage and floor.

The theatre said the cleaning and drying process was well under way, with all classes and workshops due to take place as normal from Monday.

The main theatre will reopen on Thursday with a Christmas production of The Gruffalo.

A performance by band St Agnes Fountain on Tuesday has been relocated to St Mary's Church in Banbury.

The cafe bar, which is still being cleaned up after the deluge, remains closed.

Widespread flooding hit Oxfordshire on Monday affecting many areas, including Banbury, East Hanney and Abingdon.

Fourteen flood warnings, issued by The Environment Agency, remain in place across Oxfordshire.
