Tributes paid to father killed while walking on M1
A father-of-seven who died in a motorway collision was "loved by all who knew him", his family has said.
Michael Stokes, 30, from London, had been walking between junctions 12 and 13 of the northbound M1, in Bedfordshire, after his car broke down in the early hours of Sunday.
Bedfordshire Police said it was still investigating the collision, involving a heavy goods vehicle at about 02:25 BST, when Mr Stokes was on foot.
In a tribute released to the force, his family said they had been left "completely devastated".
His family said: "He was a loving member of the family and loved by all who knew him.
"He was a father to seven children who are all completely devastated at the loss of their dad. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
"Michael was dedicated to his girlfriend who is completely broken at his sudden passing.
"He will be sorely missed by all who knew him."
The force appealed for anyone with any information or dashcam footage to come forward.
