Diana Armstrong has been co-opted as the new Ulster Unionist assembly member for Fermanagh and South Tyrone.

She replaced Tom Elliott, who was given a peerage in July as part of the dissolution honours list.

Lord Elliott was re-elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2022, having previously served between 2003 and 2015.

Diana Armstrong was the party’s candidate for Fermanagh and South Tyrone in the recent general election.

She is the daughter of Harry West, a former UUP leader and MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone.

Armstrong will be the only female MLA of the nine MLAs the UUP has at Stormont.
