A Guernsey paramedic has received a prestigious national award.
Kelly Marquis, from St John Ambulance and Rescue Service, received the Exceptional Paramedic award at the Ambulance Leadership Forum in South Wales.
The award was given in recognition of her contribution and commitment to Guernsey’s ambulance and health services, and her "positive impact on local patients and the community".
Mark Mapp, CEO of the emergency service, said Miss Marquis had been recognised for her health review scheme for islanders when they turn 80.
As a specialist preventative care paramedic she works with the Committee for Health & Social Care.
Part of the partnership includes a health review scheme for islanders when they reach their 80th birthday, known as Cake and Consultation, which includes offering a free health and assessment.
These involve a review of their physical health and an assessment of their home and lifestyle requirements to support safe and independent living and try to address concerns before they escalate.
Mr Mapp said: “Kelly's dedication and outstanding performance in preventative care have earned her this well-deserved national recognition, and we couldn't be prouder.
"This partnership project has benefitted patients who have received individualised clinical advice, lifestyle support and provision of equipment to improve health and wellbeing."
