A man will appear in court charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy in north London, the Metropolitan Police has said.

Deonte Mowatt-Slater died after his motorbike hit a lamppost following a suspected stabbing in Courtauld Road in Islington on Tuesday.

Francie McCarthy, 21, from Islington, is due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Friday gave Deonte's cause of death as stab injuries, the Met added.
