A temporary reintroduction of restrictions on carrying liquids over 100ml in hand luggage at Jersey Airport will come into force from Sunday.

Ports of Jersey (POJ) said the move would affect Jersey and six regional airports in the UK with Next Generation Security Checkpoints.

The new security system was launched at the airport in July as part of a £3m project to improve customer facilities and security technology.

The UK Department for Transport said reintroducing the restrictions would "enable further improvements to be made to the new checkpoint systems" and that it was not in response to a specific threat.

POJ said passengers would need to put all liquids, aerosols, gels and pastes carried in their hand luggage into the security trays for screening, adding that there was "no need" to place them in a plastic bag.
