Driver in court after woman killed in car crash

A man has been charged in connection with a crash that killed a 29-year-old woman and left a two-year-old boy seriously injured.

A car was travelling along the M180 on Sunday when it left the road and hit a tree near Barnetby, Humberside Police said.

Marius Ionut Dencea, who was driving the car, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The 34-year-old, of Berkeley Street in Scunthorpe, was bailed after an appearance at Hull Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Mr Dencea is due to appear before Hull Crown Court on 4 February.

The child remains in a critical condition in hospital, police said.
