Devon and Cornwall Police says Israel Augustus is set to appear in court on Saturday

A man has been charged following a suspected acid attack in Plymouth.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital in a "serious condition", according to Devon and Cornwall Police, after an incident at a property in Lipson Road on 21 February.

Israel Augustus, 25, of Pulford Road, north London, has been charged with applying a "destructive substance with intent to burn/maim/disfigure/do grievous bodily harm".

He was also charged with various further offences, including possession of an offensive weapon, aggravated burglary and drugs offences, police said, adding he was remanded into custody to appear before Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

A police spokesperson said Mr Augustus was "also charged with being concerned in the supply of a class B drug (cannabis), possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, being concerned in the supply of a class A drug (cocaine), being concerned in an offer to supply a class A drugs (MDMA and ketamine), aggravated burglary and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place."
